Billy-Ray Belcourt

Billy-Ray Belcourt ist Schriftsteller und Wissenschaftler und gehört der indigenen Bevölkerungsgruppe Driftpile Cree Nation an. Zurzeit ist er Juniorprofessor für indigenes kreatives Schreiben an der University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Sein Lyrikdebüt This Wound is a World (Frontenac House, 2017) wurde 2018 mit dem Canadian Griffin Poetry Prize, dem Robert Kroetsch City of Edmonton Book Prize und dem Indigenous Voices Award ausgezeichnet. Für seinen zweiten Lyrikband, NDN Coping Mechanisms: Notes from the Field (House of Anansi, 2019) erhielt Belcourt 2020 den Stephan G. Stephansson Award for Poetry. Sein neustes Buch A History of My Brief Body (Hamish Hamilton, 2020) ist eine Sammlung von Essays über Trauer, koloniale Gewalt, Freude, Liebe und Queerness.
